Memorial Hospital East Tower

Project Overview

The Memorial Hospital East Tower is home to the Women's and Children's Hospital and Emergency Services Department, offering highly specialized medical care over seven stories and 360,000 square feet. It is highlighted by an intricate radial exterior wall and a vaulted, two-story public lobby that connects all public components of the Memorial Hospital campus.

This renovation and expansion project was completed within a highly sensitive, active healthcare environment, therefore requiring incredibly complex logistics to keep existing operations and patient traffic operational. PCL worked diligently with the client and Memorial Health System staff to maintain infection control standards and interim life safety without disrupting the hospital’s daily operations, staff, patients, and visitors. The new emergency department on the first level of the new tower was placed into full operation only 11 months after PCL took control of the project, and thereafter, the remaining floors and the tie-in were accomplished without disruption.
