With a five-month winter schedule, PCL worked seven days a week to complete this total renovation of the Millennium Hotel Minneapolis before the hotel’s busiest travel season began. Beginning with new open-concept lobby that flows into dining and bar areas, the fresh new interior also features 22,000 square feet of event and meeting spaces, a new fitness facility, and over 320 remodeled guest rooms and suites to accommodate both casual and business travelers. While the new atmosphere is warm and contemporary, the Millennium still values its deeply grounded roots, and their famous 14th-floor dome overlooking downtown Minneapolis remains virtually unchanged. The surrounding spaces received audio-visual upgrades, furthering the Millennium’s reputation as a popular wedding venue.
Millennium Hotels and Resorts believes that their hotels should tell the stories of the communities in which they are located. In the case of Millennium Hotel Minneapolis, that story included tributes to the natural beauty and fundamental industries for which Minnesota is known. The renovation features regional building materials, along with artistic elements designed to represent iconic Minnesota features such as the Mississippi River, the taconite industry, and the stone quarries that helped build communities and cities.
