The Whitehorn LRT station is located along the northeast line in Calgary, Alberta, and currently provides some of the system’s heaviest volume of passenger use. This station upgrade project called for the replacement and extension of the platform, and refurbishment of the station interior.
PCL commenced onsite work with the demolition of the existing platform ramps and stairs, followed by the construction of new grade beams, a ticket-processing area, and an at-grade pedestrian crossing. The new platform accommodates four car LRT trains for future demand.
Knowing that keeping the line running during redevelopment was of critical importance to the client, PCL ensured the station and platform remained open during construction, with minimal impact to revenue services.
