Orlando World Center Marriott - Prefunction Renovation

Project Overview

This project called for renovations to 47,125 square feet of interior space at the Orlando World Center Marriott. As the largest Marriott facility in the world, this center can host conventions of over 8,000 people. PCL’s scope included the removal and replacement of the concrete atrium area and flooring (concrete and marble), the removal and replacement of ceilings and walls, ductwork, lighting, audio/visual upgrades, installation of closed-circuit television, upgrades to communications and visual systems, and the redesign and installation of a new fire alarm system.

To mitigate the risk of disrupting conventions in this operational facility, the project team got creative: by relocating old speakers to the outside face of the demising wall, PCL not only saved materials from the landfill, but also offered the client a unique way to drown out construction noise with preselected music.
