RBC Centre

Project Overview

Located in the heart of Toronto’s business district, the RBC Centre consists of a 42-story tower adjoined to a 10-story podium, and three levels of underground parking. The total built area is 1,775,000 square feet, and the building includes many special features like 100% emergency power, bomb blast design in the structure and curtain wall, and exposed concrete ceilings on every floor. In addition, the unique design includes a state-of-the-art daylight harvesting system, which reduces glare while still allowing the maximum amount of daylight into the building.

PCL worked with the client to optimize the center’s working environment while reducing the building’s energy consumption — all while meeting world-class design standards. The final product demonstrates that state-of-the-art offices can serve business interests and broader social objectives.
