Located on the grounds of the RCMP Academy, the Heritage Centre uses state-of-the-art multimedia exhibits and a fascinating collection of artifacts to describe the critical role the Force has played in the development of western Canada, as well as the role they play today. The facility is a unique mix of educational institution, museum, and tourist attraction.
The building, designed by renowned architect Arthur Erickson, features a unique “swooping” main roof, ranging in height from 30 to 65 feet. The open-concept interior features colored concrete floors and high metal ceilings. Working under a construction management contract, PCL oversaw the design, budget, and trades throughout construction.
The aggressive schedule was the root of a great relationship with the client. Any issues were dealt with immediately as they arose, resulting in the project's successful completion in time for the grand opening.
