This renovation and expansion project to the Regina International Airport sought to provide the city of Regina with a distinct and modern facility, capable of servicing the needs of a growing province. PCL was chosen to provide the Construction Management services.
Renovations to the airport involved upgrading 38,750 square feet of existing terminal and office spaces, while the expansion added a 47,361-square-foot, two-story structure with a functioning sun dial on the double-winged roof. This building houses new arrivals, baggage pickup, and Canada customs.
A considerable challenge on this project was coordinating the construction so that it did not interfere with the daily operations and security of the airport. This required PCL to work closely with the client to develop and maintain a schedule that would ensure effective transition from one phase to another. The project team successfully met the client’s deadlines, and the expansion was turned over on budget and in time for the Canada Summer Games.
