FILTER PROJECTS BY

Ridgefield Solar Farm

Project Overview

Ridgefield is an 8 MW solar photovoltaic (solar PV) facility located in Dunsford, Ontario. The project consisted of grading and minor vegetation removal as well as the installation of facilities including racking structures, solar panels, underground cabling, inverters, and substation components. The project team was also responsible for testing and commissioning. The solar panel arrays were mounted off the ground in rows with a fixed tilt angle facing the south to catch the sun’s rays. Energy stored by the panels is collected through underground cabling by inverter/transformer pairs, which convert DC electricity to alternating current (AC) at a specific voltage. The AC current then continues from the inverters to a modular collection substation where the main power transformers increase the voltages to suit the electricity distribution grid. Ridgefield is a part of the Ontario Feed-in-Tariff program, and despite being constructed throughout the winter, was completed on time and within budget.
