This 12,000-square-foot ballroom addition includes associated prefunction space, back-of-house service and storage space, a new 47,000-square-foot parking lot, an outbuilding, site amenities, and interior soft building renovations. PCL self-performed 13% of the two-phased project.
The first phase of the project consisted of demolishing the existing tennis courts on the south end of the site, which opened up necessary real estate to construct an innovative underground storm water management system. Once the system and underground electrical work were complete, a new surface parking lot was constructed. Phase 2 saw the completion of the ballroom addition, with selective demolition of the existing parking structure as well as existing meeting rooms, pre-function, and back-of-house spaces.
PCL’s project team took daily walks with individual subcontractors to review the work as it was being completed. The project team also implemented a photographic quality-control log to document each phase of construction and the progress of the building envelope, building systems, and wall/ceiling close-up inspections. A visual punch list was employed to expedite and streamline the sign-off process.
