One of the most unique parkade structures in Canada is located in the heart of the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) Polytechnic’s main campus. This three-level, tiered, cast-in-place parkade is built into an existing hillside to achieve a low-impact finish consistent with the surrounding green spaces. The 1,150-stall parkade is finished with an artificial-turf playing field roof, public art metal screen cladding, and atrium skylights, which provide signature architectural features.
PCL’s ability to be flexible, accommodate design changes, and provide budget guidance to the design team while maintaining a fasttrack construction schedule proved to be a strong asset to the client.
