Tucker Thermal Project - Pipe Spool Fabrication

Project Overview

This project called for the fabrication of approximately 150,000 diameter inches of pipe spool. This included 28,000 diameter inches for 33 piperack modules, while the remainder was shipped loose to site. The work was almost entirely carbon steel piping in a variety of sizes, with wall thicknesses up to 1.75". Most of the work was performed in the fabrication facility, while subcontractors were used for non-destructive examination, post-weld heat treatment, coating, and machining.

Because the PCL fabrication facility was in control of all material, the team there was able to provide the module yard with pipe spools directly and quickly, reducing wait times. The project was completed on schedule and on budget, and, in fact, was mechanically complete nine days prior to the original target date.
