Villas at Wilderness Lodge

Project Overview

This project was an addition to the popular Wilderness Lodge, and is part of the Vacation Club for a major Orlando theme park. Located on a 4.2-acre site amid reclaimed Florida wetland, this annex is modeled after an old western railroad station. The focal point of the building is a four-story central atrium, and included in the scope were a health club, a member’s lodge, a spa, a themed outdoor pool, and a landscaped promenade. The structure is five stories, posttensioned with metal stud exterior shell and an assortment of siding materials to accentuate the northwestern theme.

PCL brought many benefits to this project thanks to an outstanding planning process. The team’s construction plan was well executed, and there were minimal guest complaints: an exceptional feat considering the site’s 50-foot proximity to the existing hotel. In addition, the team brought approximately $3 million dollars in value engineering initiatives to the table, which brought the project into budget while maintaining the client’s quality expectations.
