The Winchester District Memorial Hospital is a modern, clean, and efficient building designed for today's ambulatory care medical delivery system. The redevelopment of the hospital consisted of renovations to approximately 45,000 square feet of existing hospital space, and new construction totaling 85,000 square feet.
PCL completed this project in three phases, all while the hospital was operational. Phase 1, the new addition, was constructed adjacent to the existing facility, and was tied in to the existing structure at two locations. Phase 2 called for the decanting of the entire hospital staff, services, and equipment into the new addition. The PCL team completed renovations to the existing two-story building while the hospital’s adjoining wards maintained operations. Phase 3 of the project saw the complete abatement and demolition of an existing three-story section of the structure, as well as a new 5,000-square-foot addition onto the newly renovated Phase 2.
