This new state-of-the-art headquarters for the Archives of Ontario was delivered under the Government of Ontario's Infrastructure Ontario Alternate Financing Program (AFP). PCL partnered with Plenary Group to deliver this design-build/finance/operate project. The facility is located at York University's main campus in the Greater Toronto Area and houses over $400 million in archives collections owned by the Province of Ontario. The self-contained facility meets the highest international archival standards and provides an appropriate setting to showcase some of the most valuable collections in the Archives. The project consisted of a 10-storey concrete building serving Archives of Ontario (AO) and York University (YU). The building has a total GFA of 255,284 s.f. which is split between AO (127,520 s.f. on floors 1, 2 and 3) and YU (127,764 s.f. on floors 5 through 10). The 4th floor is a shared mechanical space divided 60/40 between the two owners.
The building achieved LEED® Silver certification.
