3R Facility - Level 3/Kiewit

This 4,5100 sf, single-story, structural steel building is part of approximately 250 such buildings being constructed across North America to facilitate the installation of a fibre-optic network for Level 3 Communications. "3R" stands for Regenerate, Resend and Reshape - which is what the electronic equipment housed within this facility is designed to do.

As part of our mandate, PCL was required to comply and administer Level 3 Communications' stringent safety policy which included daily stretching, daily hazard analysis and a very onerous reporting and inspection system. This very successful project has been nicknamed the "Poster Project" for the Level 3 Communications Intercity Network Project by Kiewit Construction (the Project Managers for the entire Project).
