Cultural Consideration

CULTURAL CONSIDERATION is essential to establishing respect and trust in working relationships.

For decades, we have worked closely with culturally diverse partners to develop mutually-beneficial business relationships. We understand and support their desire for self reliance, which includes control over any capacity-building initiatives to bring enhanced financial and business independence. Just a few of the benefits that help to deliver this control, as they relate to our construction programs, are on-site and on-the-job employment and training opportunities, and work programs that are tailored to meet your community needs.

Part of our commitment to SIFC is to provide opportunities for training and employment for First Nations people. We brought in the Construction Career Development Project (CCDP), which includes provincial and federal government agencies, industry organizations and the Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technologies. In the last three years alone, CCDP has helped over 800 individuals find employment on a variety of construction projects, and has been recognized by the Saskatchewan Labor Force Development Board for innovation in employment and training . . . a great partner!

With the assistance of local collegiate institutions and thoroughly experienced personnel, training was provided to potential First Nations employees prior to and throughout the course of this project. In addition, all employees were given the opportunity to work in the various construction trades. PCL also provided opportunities in management and administration through one-on-one project coordinator and accounting training in-house.
