Los Angeles, CA (January 23, 2015) – PCL Construction has been awarded the design-build contract for the California State University, Fullerton Titan Student Union expansion.
“The PCL and Steinberg team has proposed a very exciting schematic design to improve the campus student union”, said Kurt Borsting, interim executive director of CSUF’s Associated Students Inc. “We are looking forward to working with their team throughout the remaining design phases, CSU system approvals, and the project’s construction.”
With a population increase of nearly 10,000 students in the last 13 years, the 38,000-strong student body has outgrown the current facility. The project team will extend the current student union by approximately 25,000 square feet, resulting in a nearly 165,000 square foot student union. PCL and Steinberg, the project’s architect, previously designed the university’s Gastronome and student housing residence halls. Design of the $14.5 million project is currently underway and includes floor to ceiling untinted glass, an atrium, a lounge area for students, a board room, and an entrance to administrative offices.

Onsite construction is scheduled to begin in August 2015, with completion in November 2017.
