Cooper Chesebro launched his career at PCL straight out of college, starting as an estimator in the Orlando Special Projects department. He quickly advanced to larger, more complex projects, contributing to major bids including The Ritz-Carlton, Naples, the Orlando World Center Marriott and high-profile theme park projects. Due to his track record of success in Orlando, Chesebro was tapped to help lead Florida Buildings’ expansion into the Tampa market, where he now serves as director of preconstruction for PCL’s building operations across West Florida. In this role, he partners with regional leadership to cultivate relationships with designers, engineers, and subcontractors, placing a strong emphasis on engaging minority- and women-owned businesses and supporting the growth of Tampa’s construction community.

Chesebro earned a Bachelor of Science in Building Construction from Auburn University, graduating from the university’s renowned McWorter School of Building Science. His interest in construction began in high school through active involvement with Habitat for Humanity and early exposure to the field via his uncle, a fellow graduate of Auburn. Initially drawn to architecture and design, Chesebro shifted his studies toward commercial construction, inspired by a presentation from PCL team members working on The Wizarding World of Harry Potter project in Orlando. That moment sparked his interest in joining PCL, which led to an internship with the company.

Over a decade later, Chesebro continues to be drawn to the culture and values that define PCL. He emphasizes that as an employee-owned organization, PCL fosters a collaborative, “all-in” mentality that encourages engagement, accountability and support among team members. Chesebro appreciates the family-like atmosphere, where strong character traits and professional development are prioritized, making work both meaningful and enjoyable.

He also remains energized by the iconic, high-profile developments PCL takes on across Florida, from theme parks to innovative hotels to mixed-use developments. These projects not only push creative boundaries but also offer the thrill of contributing to destinations that leave lasting impressions.

Professionally, Chesebro believes PCL stands out for its comprehensive, client-focused approach. From early concept planning through construction completion, the company builds integrated teams across preconstruction and operations to deliver turnkey solutions. PCL’s deep understanding of an owner’s broader development goals sets it apart in the market.

Outside of PCL Chesebro actively engages with local organizations and causes, including the Florida Gulf Coast chapter of the Associated Builders and Contractors, the Urban Land Institute, and the Florida chapter of the Design-Build Institute of America. He also continues his long-standing commitment to service through Habitat for Humanity. As a proud Auburn alumnus, Chesebro is a member of the Auburn University Tampa Bay Alumni Club, where he supports student outreach and helps recruit the next generation of construction professionals.
