Nearly doubling Bayer HealthCare’s infrastructure in Minnesota, the Bayer Interventional facility is used to discover, market and manufacture therapeutic medical devices for the treatment of vascular obstruction.

The 80,000-square-foot renovation included upgrades to the open office area, reception, kitchen, warehouse, sterilized product receiving area, locker rooms, and research and development labs. The facility included a ISO 8 cleanroom and other highly controlled manufacturing areas.

A bright, airy workspace flooded with natural light was one of the client’s objectives for this renovation project. The project scope also included the addition of common areas to encourage collaboration among employees.

The project achieved LEED Silver certification and included unique features such as an entryway made with recycled bottles of Tide laundry detergent. The installation of clerestory windows and skylights reduced energy use and helped achieve the owner’s goal to increase natural lighting and create a more positive work environment. Additionally, upgrades to the mechanical system included new ductwork installation throughout the building.
