From thrilling waterslides to unforgettable animal encounters – or maybe even a relaxing lazy river – waterparks offer endless options for escaping the heat and enjoying the sun.

As a leader in ride integration and resort construction (including the recently announced Four Seasons Hotel in Jacksonville), PCL has delivered several amazing waterpark projects that continue to make a splash with visitors.

Here are three you can visit on your next summer adventure!

With 58-acres of lush landscaping, tranquil beaches, lavish pools and breathtaking waterslides, Aquatica in Orlando offers guests a welcome retreat from the Florida heat.

As one of the most visited waterparks in North America, the park includes 36 water slides, two lazy river rides and two side-by-side wave pools, as well as an 88,000 square foot beach area bordering the wave pools with a VIP peninsula.

PCL’s scope of work included site work, electrical, landscaping, concrete for a 248,000-gallon dolphin pool, foundations for the slides, themed construction of three restaurants, three retail stores, restrooms and locker rooms, and the maintenance, administrative and mechanical support buildings.

Aquatica continues to be named a top summer destination, including Best Outdoor Waterpark by USA Today for the second consecutive year in 2022.

Who didn’t love playing with LEGOs as a kid? As you can imagine, working on a project that transformed an existing waterpark into a watery expansion of LEGOLAND Florida was a dream come true for our team of building experts.

This full-scale renovation of an existing infrastructure included the addition of a new kid friendly pool, first aid facility, and the re-theming of all components to LEGO branding. The park includes a lazy river, wave pool, interactive water play, water slides, and LEGO brand content.

PCL’s work on the waterpark at The Atlantis Hotel Casino in the Bahamas took water attractions to new heights: one of the main attractions is a river ride with a 65-foot high slide. More grounded visitors have several other waterslides to consider, or they can also spend the afternoon exploring the dolphin experience lagoon.

Animal welfare is the number one priority when PCL constructs a habitat. Our experience, care, and membership in the National Associations of Zoos and Aquariums is why we’ve been trusted to construct 37 projects at zoos across North America. This breadth of experience provides us with a mindset that animal protection is of the utmost importance.

In addition to the waterpark, PCL also built the Cove at Atlantis, a 600-room, 21-story all suites hotel. This five-star destination hotel features an open-air arrivals experience, a Bobby Flay signature restaurant, a fine dining buffet, lobby and bar, adult infinity pool with vest-pocket casino facilities and beach front cabanas. The Cove's high level of finishes and amenities set a new standard of excellence for the Atlantis properties.

Those seeking an endless summer can find year-round entertainment at the Dream Works Waterpark, the largest indoor waterpark in North America. A main attraction of the American Dream mall in East Rutherford, New Jersey, the park features 33 slides (including the 2nd tallest speed slide in the USA), a surfable wave pool, lazy river, roller coaster slide, surfing machine, spas and swim up bar. Visitors also are treated to stunning views of NYC.

PCL’s ride integration team added extra magic to each ride by adding the scenery and favorite characters of popular Dream Works movies, including Shrek, Kung Fu Panda and Madagascar.

From waterparks to hotels to zoos to ride attractions, building unforgettable destinations and guest experiences is part of PCL’s DNA. Read more about PCL’s entertainment construction projects, and get inspired for your next getaway.
