Edmonton, Alberta (August 19, 2026) – PCL Construction is pleased to announce a leadership change in our Saskatoon District. Ben Wagemakers has been promoted to district manager, returning to his hometown.
Ben began his career with PCL in 2005 as a student in Saskatoon and has built an impressive track record across the company. Over the years, he advanced through a variety of roles within the Saskatoon District before moving to Edmonton in 2018 as manager of Special Projects, PCL’s unique small contractor services offering. In 2019, he was promoted to operations manager for PCL’s Edmonton Buildings and Civil district, where he played a key role advancing the operational excellence necessary to deliver complex projects such as Edmonton’s Metro Line LRT, Yellowhead Freeway Conversion, and Lewis Farms Recreation Centre.
A respected leader known for his collaborative approach and strong technical expertise, Ben has contributed to some of PCL’s most important initiatives – including integration and operationalization of artificial intelligence enhancing construction delivery. For Ben, transparent communication and leading from the heart are critical to fostering high-performing teams and strong client relationships.

In his new role, Ben will report to Alistair McKnight, Regional Vice President, and will lead PCL’s Saskatoon operations with a continued focus on safety, innovation, and client service.

Ben holds a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from the University of Saskatchewan and is a registered professional engineer and a member of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan. He is also a LEED Accredited Professional and a CCA Gold Seal-certified project manager.
Ben succeeds Mike Staines who is transferring to PCL in Edmonton.
