Toronto, Canada, November 23, 2020 – The IoT PropTech Summit, a virtual event hosted by PCL Construction and Toronto-based Eddy Solutions, offered attendees a one-of-a-kind opportunity to connect with experts, gain insights and expand their network. The event, held on November 19, brought together experts from leading organizations across industries to a single platform to exchange ideas and discuss the evolving IoT and building automation ecosystems.

"It’s clear that the pace of change within construction is accelerating and businesses need to keep up with IoT and PropTech trends. It’s exciting to see how smart construction is driving smart buildings and how these in turn will drive the smarter cities of the future,” said Mark Bryant, PCL CIO.

Featuring six focused panel discussions on topics varying from the changing insurance landscape to the future of PropTech, the summit fostered conversations between experts who shared their practical IoT and PropTech experiences and expectations. Over 1200 registrants had the opportunity to connect with sponsor organizations’ virtual booths on the virtual trade show floor.

“We are so pleased with the positive response to the first IoT PropTech Summit,” said Travis Allan, CEO and President of Eddy. “At Eddy, we believe IoT is not just the future of construction and PropTech, but the future of business. It’s great to hear from the leaders who lead the change we need, and enable those who want to help make it happen.”

The IoT PropTech Summit also hosted a pitch competition, which featured three innovative tech companies pitching their ideas. Though all presenters were worthy, the judges awarded Innovia GEO and their innovative geothermal piles solution as the top pitch. With the win, Innovia GEO will receive mentorship support from industry experts, a one-hour consultation with Microsoft and coaching for application nomination support for Microsoft AI and IoT Insider Lab.

The IoT PropTech Summit partners included FirstOnSite, BGIS, Rogers for Business, Microsoft Canada, HUB International, Northbridge Insurance, Smith and Andersen, LoRA Alliance, mCloud, Tridel, CopperTree Analytics, 1Valet, Alberta IoT, AOMS Technologies, Toronto Construction Association and Carma Corp.
