Edmonton, Alberta (November 12, 2024) – PCL Construction is pleased to announce that, effective November 01, 2024, John Young has been promoted to district manager for PCL’s Atlantic Canada operations serving Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland and Labrador.

With over 30 years in the construction industry, John joined PCL in 2010 as a construction manager and then became operations manager in 2012 before being promoted to area manager in 2018. John has led impressive growth for PCL across the Atlantic region, expanding what formerly was a small area office to a now stand-alone operating district with John at the helm as PCL’s new Maritime district manager.

A quintessential Maritimer, John prioritizes growing relationships and a client-focused, inclusive and collaborative approach as keys to success. Over his 14 years with PCL, John has overseen the on time on budget execution of many significant projects across multiple sectors including the West Bedford Schools project, Nova Scotia's largest Pre-Primary to Grade 12 school to date. John is currently overseeing such pivotal community projects as the New Waterford Hub and Northside Health Complex, located in Sydney, Nova Scotia, the Mental Health and Addictions Redevelopment in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, and the new École Halifax Péninsule Pre-Primary to Grade 8 School in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

“I am excited to continue leading this talented group at PCL and see our operations grow across the Atlantic region,” said John. “I strongly believe that this team will continue to deliver unparallelled service to our clients and industry partners. All of us at PCL are inspired every day by our shared purpose of building a better future, together.”

John has a Bachelor of Science degree from Acadia University in Wolfville, Nova Scotia, and a diploma in construction administration technology from Nova Scotia Community College, Institute of Technology, in Halifax.
