Saskatoon, SK (June 22, 2022) – PCL Construction is pleased to announce our Saskatoon District has been successful in securing the construction management contract for the $57 million Lloydminster Place events facility in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan.

Lloydminster Place will replace the city’s existing Centennial Civic Centre. The proposed design  features a primary arena with seating for up to 2,500 people, a second full-size ice surface with seating for 300 to 500 people, and a third ice surface outdoors, directly adjacent to the building.

“We are very excited to be awarded this project which will be a fantastic addition to the Lloydminster community and surrounding area,” said PCL Saskatoon’s District Manager, Mike Staines. “We are also looking forward to working together with all of our local partners for this build to ensure a successful facility that everyone will be proud of.”

PCL will work alongside design firm TBD Architecture + Urban Planning and construction partner Bexson Construction Ltd. on the project.

“PCL Construction Management’s commitment to working with local companies not only significantly boosts our economy through job creation and product sales, but will also create training opportunities for those coming through the trades,” Lloydminster Mayor Gerald Aalbers said in a media release. “We’re beyond ecstatic to begin seeing the community’s and planning team’s vision come to life.”

Construction of Lloydminster Place is expected to begin in early 2023, with a grand opening expected in 2025. You can find more information on the project here.
