Edmonton, Alberta (September 17, 2020) – PCL Construction is pleased to announce that our Edmonton district has been awarded the Engineering News-Record (ENR) Magazine 2020 Best Project Award in the Retail/Mixed-Use Development category for its submission of Stantec Tower/Sky Residence and JW Marriott/Legends Residence.
The Stantec Tower is the tallest building in Western Canada and one of the largest mixed-use projects in Canada. The JW Marriott features more than 25,000 square feet of meeting and conference space and the city’s largest hotel ballrooms.
“This is a great honor, and we are very proud to have ENR once again recognize one of our projects with a Global Best award,” says PCL President and CEO Dave Filipchuk. “We congratulate all of our partners and acknowledge the excellent teamwork that went into successfully building these towers, which are helping to revitalize downtown Edmonton.”
The international construction industry submitted a record number of entries this year, even while dealing with complex pandemic-related communication and coordination issues before the entry deadline. This year’s class features 30 winning projects located in 21 different countries on six continents. These outstanding examples show the risks, rewards and hurdles overcome when designing and building internationally.
The ENR Best Project Awards gala was held virtually this year on September 17. You can read more about all of this year’s winning projects here
