SEATTLE, WA (May 14, 2026) – PCL Construction Services, Inc. began construction on a new ROCKWOOL North America stone wool manufacturing facility in Walla Walla County, Washington.
The $175 million project marks ROCKWOOL’s fifth manufacturing operation in North America and its first in the western United States. Once operational, the facility will produce stone wool insulation made from volcanic rock—a fully recyclable material valued for its durability, fire resilience, and energy efficient performance across building, industrial, and infrastructure applications. The project is expected to support approximately 125 local jobs, with commercial production beginning in 2028.

This state-of-the-art facility, which will incorporate ROCKWOOL’s proprietary electric melting technology to support more sustainable manufacturing practices while expanding production capacity to meet growing regional demand.
