Edmonton, Alberta (October 20, 2025) – PCL Construction is proud to share we have been honored with a Collaborative Project Award and Digital Products Award as part of the Building Transformations 2025 Innovation Spotlight Awards. The awards recognize the most impactful projects, technologies, companies and individuals driving digital transformation in the built environment.
The Collaborative Project Award honors a team that demonstrates exceptional leadership and innovation in construction or infrastructure through digital technologies and integrated processes that drive successful, coordinated project outcomes. The winning submission profiles the work of our team with PCL Constructors Westcoast Inc. in delivering the $1.7 billion New St. Paul’s Hospital project in downtown Vancouver. The project team is leveraging BIM, virtual reality, drones and Internet of Things (IoT) technology to deliver 46 clinical departments and more than 6,500 complex healthcare-specific rooms with precision and quality. The project sets a new benchmark for collaborative, tech-enabled healthcare infrastructure—advancing industry practices, economic growth and community impact.
This Digital Products Award is given to a team that demonstrates leadership and innovation in delivering commercially available technology that improves productivity through digital workflows, processes and or software. PCL Construction was honoured to partner with Vita Industrial to deploy the Vita Load Navigator at McCarrons Water Treatment Plant, enhancing crane lift safety, precision and productivity. The semi-autonomous tool reduced manual labor and improved load control in tight, windy conditions, setting a new benchmark for complex construction environments.
“Congratulations to all PCL team members and our strategic partners whose vision, expertise and collaboration brought these projects to life,” said Mark Bryant, Chief Information Officer at PCL. “This recognition exemplifies our relentless pursuit of innovation and our commitment to redefining what’s possible through technology. It highlights how our teams are intelligently leveraging digital solutions and data-driven insights to solve complex challenges, elevate productivity and create lasting value for our clients, partners and the communities we live, work, play and build in."
PCL was also nominated as a finalist in Digital Transformation Award category for our work on BEELINE, PCL’s proprietary digital platform transforming manual field-run tray routing across industrial projects. Congratulations to all nominees whose work showcases the power of creative problem-solving and teamwork in our industry. Together, through shared knowledge and collective participation, we are shaping a more productive, resilient and socially impactful built environment.
