Certification positions the company to support growing nuclear energy demand across North America

Edmonton, Alberta (June 15, 2026) – PCL Construction has achieved a major industry certification that expands its ability to support nuclear energy projects and strengthens Canada’s role in the North American nuclear supply chain.

PCL’s nuclear fabrication facility in Nisku, Alberta, has earned the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) N‑type Certificate of Authorization, one of the most widely recognized quality certifications in the nuclear industry. The certification confirms that the facility meets the rigorous standards required to fabricate, assemble and install nuclear‑grade components used in nuclear power projects.

“This achievement confirms we are ready to support nuclear projects at the highest standard,” said Louie Shoukas, PCL’s chief nuclear officer. “It positions us to work with clients across the U.S. and Canada as nuclear energy investment continues to accelerate. We are ready to deliver.”

With this authorization, PCL is approved to support a wide range of nuclear applications, including conventional nuclear facilities and emerging technologies such as small modular reactors, which are expected to contribute to Canada’s long‑term energy and emissions‑reduction goals.

The milestone follows significant investment in nuclear‑grade quality programs, workforce training and fabrication capabilities at the Nisku facility. PCL is now engaging with owners, developers and industry partners to support upcoming nuclear projects across North America.

PCL’s nuclear fabrication operations build on the company’s long‑standing presence in Canada’s industrial and energy sectors, reinforcing Alberta’s role as a centre of expertise for complex, high‑quality construction and fabrication work.
