Vancouver, British Columbia (April 2, 2026) — PCL Constructors Westcoast Inc. is pleased to announce it has been awarded the Kimberley Wastewater Treatment Plant Upgrade, delivered through the Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) model. The major infrastructure investment will modernize Kimberley’s wastewater treatment system and support the community’s long-term growth and environmental stewardship.

Once complete, the upgraded facility will replace aging infrastructure and meet advanced treatment targets under British Columbia’s Municipal Wastewater Regulation, while increasing treatment capacity to 11 million litres per day to accommodate future population growth.

“This project represents an important step forward for Kimberley’s essential infrastructure and reflects a strong, collaborative approach to integrated project delivery,” said Ryan Andrews, PCL’s District Manager. “Through the IPD model, the team is aligned from the outset to manage risk, drive innovation, leverage PCL’s established water and wastewater expertise to deliver long-term value for the community.”

The upgraded wastewater treatment plant will enhance environmental protection, improve operational efficiency, and ensure Kimberley continues to meet evolving regulatory requirements well into the future.

The scope of work includes the construction and commissioning of three new purpose-built facilities:

  • A headworks and solids handling building, incorporating primary treatment processes, a pump station, dissolved air flotation, and centrifuge systems
  • A process and tanks building featuring Aerobic Granular Sludge (AGS) treatment technology, a leading-edge biological wastewater treatment solution
  • A new administration and laboratory building to support plant operations and monitoring

Preconstruction and design activities are currently underway. Construction is scheduled to begin in April 2026, with commissioning expected to be complete and the plant treating effluent by October 2028.
