Oakville, ON (April 17, 2026) – Employees of PCL Constructors Canada Inc.’s Toronto office raised a record-breaking $316,097 during their annual United Way campaign in 2025, marking the highest level of employee giving in the office’s history. Supported by special events and a corporate donation, the campaign generated a total of $557,457.
“As an employee-owned company, PCL believes in the power of coming together to make a meaningful difference, as leaders in construction and in our local communities,” says Monique Buckberger, vice president and district manager and 2025 United Way campaign chair for Toronto. “Through this campaign, employee pledges help drive lasting change and reflect the core values we uphold as builders.”
This achievement was recognized by United Way Halton & Hamilton with a Step Up for the Community Award, presented to PCL Toronto’s campaign committee on April 15, 2026, at the Burlington Convention Centre.

Coming Together to Give Back
Over two weeks this past Fall, employees rallied behind United Way’s United in Action campaign, bringing energy, creativity and a strong sense of community to every activity. The campaign was designed to spark participation and connection, key to what makes PCL a preferred employer, by turning everyday spaces and team moments into opportunities to give back, encouraging friendly competition while fostering community spirit.
Throughout the office, employees transformed their workspaces into a hub of friendly competition and purpose. Hallway golf, a fan-favorite, saw departments and project teams construct and play mini-golf holes from reused materials that stretched through corridors, drawing in participants from across departments. Two teams took to the tarmac at Hamilton International Airport for Plane Pull, joining other organizations from across the community in a high-energy challenge that celebrated both teamwork and a passion for aviation. United by determination, they pulled a 200,000-pound aircraft 50 feet, turning an extraordinary feat into a powerful teambuilding opportunity.
Additional events, including a dodgeball tournament, wine survivor raffle, and hands-on volunteer efforts such as assembling hygiene kits for local distribution, gave employees multiple ways to get involved. Together, these moments capture the spirit of PCL’s culture, showcasing how collaboration, generosity and shared purpose translate into real community impact.
