Edmonton, Alberta (Nov. 28, 2019) – PCL Construction is proud to announce that our Chief Information Officer, Mark Bryant, has been named the Information Technology Association of Canada (ITAC) Canadian CIO of the Year.

“I’m extremely honored to accept this award,” said Bryant. “I first and foremost have to thank all of the extremely talented PCL team members who are a huge reason why I have the privilege to win this award. They have contributed to the success of everything we do across our company, and they are the ones who continue to turn our ideas into reality.”

Bryant was one of five Canadian CIO’s nominated for the award. The judging panel was made up of senior CIOs and CEOs, including a representative from the CIO Association of Canada.

PCL Construction was also the recipient of an Ingenious Award in the Large Private Sector category. PCL’s Job Site Insights™ application is an IoT-based smart construction platform that enables lean construction, reducing costly rework and warranty claims, improving build quality, conserving energy, enhancing productivity and safety, and reducing PCL’s carbon footprint.

Equally impressive and finishing runner-up to JSI was another PCL smart-construction application. The PCL Hazard Inspection App that blends machine learning and artificial intelligence with safety standards produces a new and lean way of conducting inspections in the field, by simply taking photos of hazards.

These awards were created as a way to recognize Canadian talent and initiatives designed to improve performance, introduce new services, solve programs, and grow businesses through the use of technology. The winners were announced Nov. 27 at the ITAC Ingenious Awards Gala in Toronto.
