Edmonton, Alberta (December 22, 2021) – Collecting large amounts of money for a good cause is never a pie-in-the-sky goal for PCL. Our business technology group’s annual food bank fundraiser was a sweet slice of holiday magic – and a pie in the eye for a few managers.

PCL has a strong history of supporting Edmonton’s Food Bank through financial donations, food drives and volunteer hours, and we’re happy to be in a position where we can help individuals and families keep food on the table again this year as the pandemic continues.

Business technology joined forces this year with marketing and communications to incite friendly competition and collect financial donations for the food bank. Senior managers from the two departments rallied co-workers to see who could bring in the most money. The sweet reward? Seeing managers with lower donation counts get a pie in the face.

“It’s been another difficult year for society in general, but it’s been fantastic to see BT and marketing and communications come together to show how our PCL culture rises to the occasion for those in need,” said CIO Mark Bryant.

“I’m so proud of PCLers for opening their hearts and wallets in support of our annual food bank campaign,” said Alison Tucker, VP marketing and communications.

This year generous PCLers raised $26,000. Of the total, $19,500 is from BT, marketing and communications and other Edmonton-area employees. Corporately, PCL contributed an additional $6,500 to support those who need help this holiday season.

“It’s part of our purpose at PCL to help better our communities in whatever ways we can,” said Dave Filipchuk, president and CEO. “We are grateful for our success despite the challenges of this past year, and we’re fortunate to be able to give back and help people who are struggling to make ends meet, especially at this time of year. Thank you to everyone for making this campaign a success.”

If you want to help Edmonton-area families keep food on the table over the holidays, please consider making a cash donation directly to Edmonton’s Food Bank.
