As the area manager for PCL’s building operations in West Florida, Eric Nixon leads strategy on project pursuits and supports the growth and development of the local PCL team. His journey into construction began at the University of Florida’s School of Building Construction (UFBCN – now the College of Design, Construction & Planning) where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Building Construction. Encouraged by a mentor and fellow UFBCN graduate, Nixon not only enrolled in the program but graduated with honors, discovering a deep passion for the industry that laid the groundwork for his successful career in commercial construction.
Nixon began his career with PCL in 2013 as assistant manager of finance and administration for the Orlando office, where he later served as senior manager of finance and commercial risk. Prior to joining PCL, he spent over 15 years in project management and operations leadership roles with major general contractors across the Southeastern United States. Throughout his career, Nixon has been particularly drawn to the challenges of building high-rise structures in dense urban environments and enjoys cultivating client relationships that carry forward across projects. In his current role with PCL, Nixon values the company’s commitment to both its employees and clients, noting that the company embraces complex challenges and relentlessly pursues client goals. He finds personal fulfillment in being empowered to make a daily impact by growing staff, strengthening relationships and contributing to meaningful work.
Outside of PCL, Nixon remains active in the Urban Land Institute and the Gulf Coast chapter of the Associated Builders and Contractors. He is also involved with Habitat for Humanity, Feeding Tampa Bay, and the Southeast regional branch of Canine Companions, an organization that provides trained service dogs to people with disabilities at no cost to the recipient.
