Dominic Gundacker’s passion for construction took root early in life, sparked by a childhood spent building forts, ramps and rafts from scratch. His construction professional father also played a pivotal role in shaping his career path. Witnessing him bring complex projects like theme parks to life left an impression that stayed with Gundacker. That influence endured, and today, Gundacker takes pride in knowing he has contributed to projects his own children may one day enjoy.
Gundacker earned a bachelor's degree in Construction Management from Seminole State College in Florida. Following a summer internship with PCL, Gundacker chose to transition to night classes, enabling him to join the company full-time as a field engineer while completing his degree.
Today, Gundacker serves as the Special Projects Manager for PCL’s Orlando office, playing a pivotal role in driving the department's overall success by managing both internal and external relationships. He takes a hands-on leadership approach, frequently visiting project sites across Central Florida to stay closely connected with his teams and offer real-time support. His leadership is grounded in a commitment to fostering unity and shared purpose within the Special Projects team, cultivating a culture that feels like one cohesive family working together toward a common goal.
Among the many meaningful projects completed during his time at PCL, one that stands out for Gundacker took place on a theme park property. Spanning several miles and weaving through active roadways, theming elements and waterways, the project presented unique logistical challenges that demanded exceptional coordination and communication. With teams spread across remote sites, ensuring alignment among all stakeholders was critical to maintaining momentum and quality. This undertaking became a true testament to collaboration under complex conditions, and ultimately resulted in a successful outcome for both the client and PCL.
Gundacker takes great pride in being part of PCL, largely because of the company’s values-driven culture. As a member of the internal Cultural Ambassador program, he plays an active role in fostering and preserving the spirit that sets PCL apart. He thrives in the company’s “work hard, play hard” environment, finding that this balance fuels both motivation and a deep sense of camaraderie among team members.
Outside of his role at PCL, Gundacker serves on the executive board of the Foundation for Seminole State College, giving back to his alma mater and supporting the next generation of construction professionals. He also holds the position of Vice Chair for the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) Collegiate Outreach Committee in Central Florida. In this role, he actively mentors college students and helps prepare them for the ABC Construction Management Competition, a prominent national event in which most collegiate construction programs compete.
