As director of preconstruction for PCL’s building operations across North Florida, Doug Baggett plays a pivotal role in shaping project success from the outset. With a focus on early engagement, he leads efforts to integrate value-added services into each project, ensuring that design, schedule and budget are optimized to deliver maximum value to clients. Under his leadership, the preconstruction team works collaboratively to align project goals with strategic planning, setting a strong foundation for execution.
Baggett's passion for construction began early. A graduate of the University of Florida with a degree in Building Construction, he was drawn to the industry by a fascination with how buildings come together and a love for hands-on work. Starting with carpentry and framing in high school, Baggett continued working in the field throughout college. Upon graduation, he joined a regional commercial general contractor, launching a career that would evolve into leadership in large-scale construction management.
With over a decade of experience at PCL, Baggett has contributed to a wide range of projects, each offering its own unique challenges and opportunities. From multifamily residential developments to office buildings, aviation infrastructure, hospitality venues, and theme parks, he has built a career marked by versatility and growth. This breadth of experience has not only deepened Baggett’s technical expertise but also enriched his appreciation for the dynamic nature of the construction industry.
Baggett describes PCL’s culture as truly exceptional. While the company’s employee ownership model is often cited as a key differentiator, he emphasizes the culture of family as what truly sets the company apart. For clients and partners, Baggett believes PCL’s value lies in its proven track record, technical expertise and collaborative spirit. Every team member is deeply invested in the success of each project— not just for PCL, but for the client’s long-term goals. It’s this combination of professionalism and genuine care that makes PCL a trusted partner in construction.
Outside of PCL, Baggett remains active in the North Florida chapter of the Associated Builders and Contractors. He also serves on the Board of Directors for Edgewood Children’s Ranch, a program dedicated to helping at-risk children and their families.
