Safety is a cornerstone of our culture and Altru Health System shares the same value. As an operational health care facility, it was crucial to keep the well-being of the community at the forefront and keep critical communication uninterrupted by construction.

The hospital sends several hundred documents daily through the facility’s pneumatic tube to the neighboring cancer center. These pneumatic tubes send cylindrical tubs containing indispensable messages, so the project team created a plan to ensure the tube was undisturbed even during the link tunnel removal.

At the project’s completion, the hospital will include a Central Sterile Processing Department, a full surgical suite and several MRI’s within the imaging suite. It will also contain eight miles of medical gas lines throughout the facility to carry oxygen, CO2, nitrogen and nitrous oxide.
