For more than a century, rail transport has been important to the mining city of Timmins. On a railway bridge over the nearby Porcupine River, aging concrete was severely compromised and required rehabilitation. We removed and replaced the structural concrete faces and steel, taking special care with the large aggregate, unconventional reinforcing steel, and very deep earth removals. When constructability challenges threatened to delay completion and increase costs, we proactively offered solutions to the client that stayed within their budget.

The bridge at Porcupine River is our first with the Transportation Commission. Completed ahead of schedule, the project helps keep the trains running in Northern Ontario.
