The Palm Beach Zoo Tiger Forest project creates an immersive habitat that reimagines how guests interact with one of nature’s most majestic predators, blending innovative design with conservation-driven storytelling.

The expansion project features the addition of a third tiger habitat, seamlessly connected to the existing two habitats through a network of elevated treetop pathways. These uniquely themed overhead pathways allow the tigers to roam freely among all three environments. One pathway, crafted from structural steel and themed as a fallen tree, offers a naturalistic transition, while the other mimics a traditional Malaysian Hut with corrugated metal finishes, celebrating the cultural roots of the Malayan tiger.

The main exhibit enclosure, designed and built with a durable mesh system, creates a safe yet intimate experience for both animals and visitors. Enhanced guest areas feature upgraded viewing experiences, including a renovated timber viewing platform and two additional lookout points made of structural steel and acrylic panels, offering striking, unobstructed views of the tigers in action.

Custom theming enriches the visitor journey throughout the exhibit, including 15-foot bamboo-inspired bollards, lifelike deadfall trees, rustic-themed crates and carts, and authentic architectural elements. The landscaping and theming elements, developed through a collaborative design-build process, are carefully curated to evoke the natural beauty of the tigers’ native environment while supporting animal wellness and enrichment.

With its thoughtful integration of storytelling, design innovation, and animal care, the Tiger Forest project offers guests of all ages a dynamic, unforgettable encounter with the wild.
