Sips (with a Z)® is a cocktail bar that features the dynamic art installations and interactive environment guests have come to expect from the creators of Meow Wolf. This innovative project features sculptures, animations, and interactive lighting to encourage exploration throughout the venue. The lounge is infused with Meow Wolf Denver’s iconic artistic elements, including a stage crown for live music. Another unique addition is the transparent “sewer” on the ceiling where lounge guests can see people walking above them – introducing an interactive dimension.

The PCL project team navigated the unique challenges blending avant-garde art with functional design. Prefabricating complex features like the ornate ceiling and custom seating offsite ensured precision and kept the project on track, while avoiding unforeseen delays and costs. The team adopted a similar approach for the stage crown, fabricating it offsite according to field dimensions. This was transformed into a panelized system that could be assembled and suspended from the structure onsite using bolt connections. Small adjustment points were integrated to ensure a precise and level installation of this key feature.

The stage crown itself is a fully custom element, crafted with bent 1” conduit to match the radius of the feature on the face. In addition to incorporating LED lighting, the crown was coordinated with custom stage lighting and other nearby stage features.

The new Sips (with a Z)® lounge enhances the Meow Wolf Denver experience for visitors and is a shining example of how PCL can successfully complete complex special projects.
