A Unified Commitment

PCL’s unified commitment to giving allows communities across North America to fully benefit from PCL’s support. PCL is committed to creating strong, sustainable communities through organizations like the Red Cross. This support is a natural extension of PCL values.
Responding to needs in the wake of a disaster is critical, and PCL recognized that more assistance is needed. That’s why PCL has donated $100,000 to the American Red Cross, and $100,000 to the Canadian Red Cross, to be repeated twice over three consecutive years. A total of $600,000 for disaster preparedness will go towards supplies and aid.
This multinational disaster preparedness donation is a first of its kind because it will enable collaboration between the two Red Cross societies to maximize the efficiencies of proactively preparing to respond to disasters. The donation is also unique in its proactive nature—saving money by supporting disaster response preparations before disaster strikes, rather than reactively funding a specific disaster operation.
“Many generous donors recognize the need to give once a community has been devastated by disaster—but this is one of the first large donations of its kind to recognize the importance of supporting the Red Cross in all that it must to do before disaster strikes, so that we can be fully ready to respond at a moment’s notice when we are needed most,” said Gino Greco, CEO of the American Red Cross Mile High Region.
“This sort of proactive support enables us to meet disaster-affected communities’ needs more quickly, more efficiently, and at a lower cost.”
