Brett Dolan is committed to helping others. He loves people, and this love is evident in all aspects of his professional and personal life.
Dolan joined PCL in 2001 as corporate Human Resources advisor and has advanced through the organization to his current position of US director of Human Resources at PCL’s US Head Office in Denver, Colorado. In this role, Dolan oversees the Human Resources departments for all of PCL’s Commercial Building, Civil Infrastructure, and Heavy Industrial divisions operating in the United States. It is a big job, but Dolan is up for the challenge.

“Working in human resources gives me the ability to interact with employees throughout all levels of the organization, and it provides me an opportunity to help them in many different facets of their lives and careers—from recruiting and onboarding to career development, work-life balance and employee engagement, to benefits,” said Dolan. “It’s very rewarding to see people grow both personally and professionally.”
As a noted Denver community volunteer, Dolan’s generosity extends to the city in which he lives and works. He gives a tremendous amount of personal time to the Denver community, and last year clocked over 250 hours volunteering for various events and philanthropic organizations. Mile High United Way and the Red Cross of Denver are only two of the local organizations that receive Dolan’s ongoing time and support.
HONORED BY THE COMMUNITY
Dolan has been recognized for his business leadership and community involvement. Most recently he was named a Top 40 Under 40 by The Denver Business Journal, an award given to people who demonstrate leadership in business and commitment to community. Additional honors include Dolan’s designations in ENR (Engineering News Record) as a Top 20 Under 40, and as a Top 25 Most Influential Young Professionals in Colorado in ColoradoBiz magazine.
A CAREER COME FULL CIRLCE
Dolan says that the highlights of his career at PCL—so far—include his transfer from Denver in 2006 to PCL’s operating office in Seattle, where he established the district’s Human Resources and Professional Development department. He did the same in Honolulu and Anchorage in subsequent years. Eventually he returned to Denver where PCL continues to recognize his talent and dedication to the field of Human Resources and his service to the organization.
Accolades aside, Dolan says the people at PCL, no matter which office he is working with, makes his career satisfying and rewarding. “The camaraderie here is like no other place I’ve ever worked; people genuinely want to help others succeed and take pleasure in seeing it happen, while also making sure you stay grounded.”
