Phoenix, AZ (November 25, 2014) – PCL Construction has provided approximately 200,000 meals to support those in need through a $30,000 donation to St. Mary’s Food Bank. According to St. Mary’s Food Bank, Arizona is currently ranked as the third-worst state in the country when it comes to child hunger rates, with one in four children struggling with hunger.
“Unfortunately, there is a prominent need for food in our community,” said Mauricio Ramos, PCL Phoenix construction manager. “We recognize this need and continue to help individuals and families in the communities in which PCL builds.” Ramos presented the donation to St. Mary’s Food Bank on November 22.
In addition to the Phoenix office, 13 other PCL locations will provide food bank donations, including Atlanta, Bakersfield, Dallas, Denver, Hawaii, Houston, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, New Jersey, Orlando, Raleigh, Seattle, and Tampa, for a collective donation of $160,000. PCL Construction has donated a total of $888,000 over the last six years to food banks, providing approximately eight million meals.
This is the sixth consecutive year PCL has donated to the organization in time for the Thanksgiving need. In addition to the monetary donations, many PCL employees across the country also volunteer their time in conducting additional food drives.
