(February 2, 2016) – PCL Construction is pleased to announce that five of its
employees have been recognized on Engineering
News-Record’s Top 20 under 40 list, representing the California, Mountain
States, Southeast, and Southwest regions. These lists highlight 20 individuals
each, who are younger than 40 and exemplify what it means to be the “Best of the
Best” in their construction and design careers, the industry as a whole, and in
their respective communities.
Eric Chavez, project manager for PCL’s
Transportation Group, is a desired mentor on project sites owing to his breadth
of knowledge and passion for the industry, and remains a resource to his
mentees long after a project’s completion. Eric continues to be a wealth of
knowledge for tackling technically complex projects, such as the design-build
replacement of the $128 million Lake Barkley Bridge in Cadiz, Kentucky.
Lourdes Lopez is a project engineer for PCL’s
Water Infrastructure Group and the president of the Greater Phoenix Chapter of
the National Association of Women in Construction. She is dedicated to
advancing women in the construction industry, with her biggest piece of advice
being to “try something that intimidates you—it has the potential to mold you
into a better version of yourself.” Lourdes is currently working on improving
the efficiency of the solids handling facility at the $22 million Union Hills
Water Treatment Plant in Phoenix, Arizona.
Lucas Mallory manages PCL’s Special Projects division
in Denver, which focuses on delivering projects valued from $100,000 to $10
million. In his first two years as manager, Lucas grew the division three-fold,
expanding into new markets and adding clients. He is best known for his
positive attitude and strength in leadership, and has earned the prestigious
company-wide Robert Stollery Construction Leadership Award, which recognizes
promising management staff across PCL.
of PCL’s Special Projects division in California, Thai Nguyen’s innovative approach to solving challenges and executing
construction plans has positioned him as one of PCL’s emerging young leaders.
He remains instrumental in the success of future engineers, and was recognized
as Mentor of the Year by the Architecture Construction Engineering (ACE) Mentor
Program in Los Angeles.
As senior project manager
for PCL’s Orlando office, Jeremy Voss has
worked his way through multiple hotel renovations and recently managed the
overhaul of a former phosphate mine into a luxury 350,000-square-foot lodge,
golf course, and conference center known as Streamsong Resort, recognized as ENR’s Best-of-the-Best hospitality
project of 2014. Jeremy empowers his team members by trusting, listening, and
motivating them and is a lead mentor for Orlando’s ACE Mentor Program.
