PCL Construction Receives Safety Award of Excellence

Vancouver, BC (October 21, 2014) – PCL Construction is pleased to announce it’s been honored for its exemplary safety practices in British Columbia. The Vancouver Regional Construction Association (VRCA) presented PCL with the Award of Excellence for outstanding safety record in the General Contractor category of 200,000 or more personhours.

Lou Metcalf, PCL’s Health, Safety and Environment Manager in BC, says, “This award is an honor. It is a concerted daily effort for our staff, hourly and salaried, to work safely. We do not take safety for granted and have many policies and procedures in place to make sure we are always aware of our working conditions and how to minimize and/or control any potential hazards.” 
Over the past year PCL Constructors Westcoast Inc. completed 575,000 personhours without significant incident, employing upwards of 120 hourly and 192 salaried staff on more than 45 projects.
PCL Constructors Westcoast Inc. has won this VRCA Safety Award in recognition of its remarkable safety record every year for the past seven years, since 2008.
