San Diego, CA  (April 18, 2016) – PCL Construction is pleased to receive the Honor Award from the American Public Works Association (APWA) for the Cesar Chavez Parking Structure.

The design-build, four-level, cast-in-place parking structure includes 320 parking spaces, 4,000 square feet of rooftop-level solar panels, and several large exterior murals. It serves the Cesar Chavez Continuing Education Center, which brings together hundreds of working-class students into the Barrio Logan community of San Diego every day.

“Social responsibility is one of PCL’s guiding principles and we strongly value giving back to the communities where we live and work,” said Aaron Wiehe, vice president and area manager for PCL in San Diego.

The award recognizes good use of construction management techniques, safety performance, community relations, awareness of the need to protect the environment, unusual accomplishments under adverse conditions, efforts to maintain quality control, and use of sustainable infrastructure.

PCL will be honored at the awards luncheon on May 9, 2016.
