Denver, CO (August 31, 2015) – PCL Construction is pleased to announce that five projects have been recognized by Engineering News-Record (ENR) Mountain States in their Best Projects program.
“It’s a huge honor for five of PCL’s projects to be recognized on ENR’s Best Project Awards list,” said Frank Terrasi, vice president and district manager. “These awards truly showcase the positive impact of the projects on our community and the dedication of the teams and our partners.”
The RTD Commuter Rail Maintenance Facility (CRMF) in Denver, Colorado, won in the Airport/Transit category. The 230,000-square-foot facility is a design-built project that allows for the upkeep of a fleet of passenger trains through everything from daily inspections through full truck replacements.
The Minot Air Force Base in North Dakota won in the Government/Public Buildings category. The B-52 hangar is a two-bay maintenance dock that will house two B-52 aircraft, side by side, and allow maintenance to be performed in an entirely enclosed, conditioned space.
The Pavilion at Colorado State University’s Laurel Village in Fort Collins, Colorado, won in the Green Project category. The Pavilion is the only LEED Platinum-certified building on the CSU Fort Collins campus. It incorporates some of the newest energy-efficient innovations, beginning with the sloping green roof, which supports live plants that help to insulate the building during the winter.
The Denver Public Schools Emily Griffith Campus and Mile High United Way Morgridge Center for Community Change, also in Denver, together received an Award of Merit in the K–12 Education category and the Office/Retail/Mixed-Use category.
An independent jury consisting of industry leaders in design and construction from the Mountain States region judged the projects on five criteria: overcoming challenges and teamwork, safety, innovation and contribution to the industry/community, construction quality and craftsmanship, and functionality of design and aesthetic quality.
ENR Mountain States will recognize PCL at its annual awards breakfast on October 29 at the Denver Marriott City Center.
