Seattle, WA (March 19, 2015) – Eastside Corridor Constructors, a joint venture between PCL Civil Constructors, Inc. in Seattle and Granite Construction Company, has been awarded the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) Alliant Build America Merit Award in the Highway and Transportation Renovation category for the SR 520 Eastside Transit and HOV Design-Build project.

Eastside Corridor Constructors completed 3.5 miles and four transit stations of the 8.8-mile Eastside Transit and HOV system from Evergreen Point Road to the SR 202 interchange in Bellevue, Washington. The project’s scope includes more than 2.5 miles of road widening to accommodate eastbound travelers and over one million cubic yards of excavated earth. The project was completed on behalf of the Washington State Department of Transportation, as part of the SR 520 Bridge Replacement and HOV program. The project’s environmental enhancements and overall travel improvements to the corridor contributed to the successful outcome of the award selection.
“PCL is pleased to accept this prestigious award from AGC,” said Ankur Talwar, PCL district manager. “Congratulations to all the project teams that worked tirelessly to make this project a success.”
Founded in 1968, The Associated General Contractors (AGC) of America is the leading association for the construction industry and represents more than 26,000 firms, including over 6,500 leading general contractors. The AGC awards recognize AGC members who build the nation’s most impressive construction projects ranging across the building, highway and transportation, municipal and utilities, and federal divisions.

The award was presented to PCL’s civil group and Granite Construction Company by AGC president Alan Landes during the association’s 96th Annual Convention at the Puerto Rico Convention Center in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
