Edmonton, Alberta (November 9, 2017) – PCL Construction is pleased to announce that for the 19th consecutive year, it has achieved Aon Hewitt’s Best Employer status. PCL has been recognized on Aon’s list of top Canadian workplaces since 2000.

PCL is recognized across the industry for a work-hard, play-hard mentality that focuses on employee wellness and volunteerism, and for charitable giving that tops more than $6.6 million annually. Along with community investment, PCL emphasizes employee development, with the internal PCL College of Construction offering comprehensive and custom training to employees looking to enhance and develop skills. In 1977, PCL Construction became the first employee-owned construction company in Canada—an innovative model that allows employees to share in the success of the organization.

“Becoming a Best Employer is a collaborative effort within our entire organization to create a positive culture defined by community giving, rewarding work, employee appreciation, and a unique employee-ownership model,” said Mike Olsson, vice president of human resources and professional development, PCL Construction. “We recognize that no one leader or staff member can accomplish this alone—all of our employees have contributed to making PCL an exceptional place to come to work.”

Now in its 19th year, the Aon Best Employer program measures and recognizes leading employers across Canada and the globe. Participating companies encourage employees to fill out a confidential engagement survey distributed yearly by Aon Hewitt. Survey results are then compiled and evaluated based on organizational culture, leadership, employee appreciation, employee engagement, tools and resources, and internal communication.
