PCL Industrial Management Inc., in a joint venture partnership with SNC-Lavalin Inc., has been awarded a contract to provide services for Agrium's Vanscoy potash plant approximately 40 kilometers (25 mi.) southwest of Saskatoon. The project will expand the facilities from the current sustainable production rate of 1.8 million tonnes per year to 2.8 million tonnes per year.
PCL’s scope of work includes modifications to the mine’s underground loading pocket, raw ore hoist, conveyors, process equipment in the mill, and loadout and product storage facilities. The team will also install new mill building extensions to house the new process equipment. Construction disciplines include piling, earthworks, concrete, demolition, structural steel, process buildings, process equipment, piping, electrical, instrumentation, and specialty subcontracts.
