PCL's Special Projects division expanded the Conexus Credit Union Branch in south Regina by 6,000 square feet. The new space includes offices, a staff room, updated washrooms, a remote company-wide data room, a disaster recovery swing space, and a new remote drive-thru.
PCL was initially hired to provide preliminary budgets in the planning stages of the project. The project was then tendered in three phases to expedite the demolition of the existing drive-thru and the construction of the branch addition. All renovation work was completed with the existing branch still in full operation.
As the city’s busiest drive-thru branch, Conexus South Albert required that drive-thru operations remain as uninterrupted as possible. To accommodate this, PCL phased construction, and placed a temporary surface in the winter to allow vehicle access while the remainder of the addition was still under construction. The asphalt surface was then permanently placed in the spring, when conditions allowed.
This project was so successful that the client used it as the standard delivery model in planning two new branches.
